Smell of cherries and woody plants. The medium to full body is balanced on the pallet with natural acidity. Tannins are solid but delicate, which contributes to the ripening of the wine. Cold and humid winter in Anwilce has allowed a relaxing time for wine.
The maturing period was ideal because it was mild and long, so the ripening of the grapes was longer than usual.
At the southern end of Stellenbosch, overlooking False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, the red wine of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot varieties is grown on 40 hectares of land. The proximity of the sea provides a specific microclimate, which along with the fertile soil is ideal for the production of rich and concentrated wine.
Under the leadership of internationally-known personalities from Bordeaux, Hubert de Boüard (co-owner of Chateau Angélus in Saint-Emilion) and Bruno Prats (former owner of Chateau Cos d'Estoumel in Saint-Estéphe), Anwilka achieved a worldwide reputation from Robert Parker "best red wine from South Africa that I ever had".
