On his 5 hectares of vineyards in the Morgon appellate area, Jean-Paul Thévenet grows vines with his son Charly according to biodynamics regulations. For many years, chemicals from vineyards and cellars have been banned altogether, in favor of treatments based on herbal teas and natural products. Jean-Paul is the father of Charly Thevenet, who markets the Morgon up to and including the year 2017 under his name, from 2018 Charly takes over the entire Domaine.
The 2018 Morgon Vieilles Vignes bursts from the glass with a high-toned bouquet of red cherries, rose petals and orange rind. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and elegant, with lively acids, melting tannins and a succulent core of fruit. This is a charming rendition of a cuvée that's routinely among the appellation's most elegant, and it's already drinking well.
