The wine is intensely colored, full of spicy cinnamon with concentrated fruit flavors supported by flexible tannins that are rich and heady, smoky cream with a hint of oak and complexity. Chateau Pichon Baron was once part of a larger estate that belonged to Château Pichon Comtesse de Lalande Longueville to Pierre de Rauzan. In 1850, the estate was divided into two current Pichon wineries. In 1987 the winemaker bought the French insurance company AXA, which immediately appointed Jean-Michel Cazes of Château Lynch-Bages the manager.
