The wine is endowed with plenty of strength and solid tannins with a pleasant combination of fruit and acids. The excellent plot of Montrose vineyards forms one block, overlooking the mouth of Gironde. The soil is gravel in these places with the addition of ferric sands. It is these extraordinary capacities of this wine for long aging. The name Montrose (originally Montrose-Ségur), "Pink Mountain" is meant to be a reminder of the wild roses that grew earlier in this place.
